An honest answer from a Bondi lash artist, plus the small daily habits that make the difference between a lift that lasts five weeks and one that holds for eight.
It's the question we get asked at almost every consultation. The honest answer is six to eight weeks, but the range exists for a reason. Some clients hold a lash lift for the full eight weeks looking polished. Others see it soften by week five. The difference almost always comes down to two things: your natural lash growth cycle, and how you care for the lift in the days and weeks after the appointment.
Why the Range Exists
A lash lift sets the curl into your existing lashes. Lashes shed and grow in cycles, roughly every six to eight weeks, so as new lashes grow in straight underneath the lifted ones, the lift naturally softens. Faster lash cycles, oily skin and frequent eye rubbing all shorten the timeline. Slower cycles, gentle aftercare and oil-free products extend it.
The Habits That Extend Your Lift
- Brush your lashes gently each morning with a clean spoolie
- Skip waterproof mascara, the remover is the enemy
- Use an oil-free cleanser around the eye area
- Sleep on your back where possible, side sleepers tend to flatten one eye
- Apply a nourishing lash serum daily, especially in winter
When to Book Your Next Appointment
Most clients at Bondi Aesthetic Room rebook their lash lift every seven to eight weeks. Booking too early can cause the next lift to overprocess the new lash growth, so we always recommend waiting at least six weeks between appointments. If your lashes still look beautifully lifted at week eight, you can stretch a little longer.
What If My Lift Drops Earlier?
If your lift visibly softens in the first three weeks, it's almost always related to aftercare or product use. Check that you're avoiding oil-based cleansers, waterproof mascara and sleeping face-down. If it still drops quickly after that, your lash type may benefit from the Korean lash lift, which produces a taller, more decisive lift that holds longer in stubborn lashes.
